SUMMARY
by Michael Banak
This report documents an evolutionary process in the design of a Multi-Use Building. It investigates 5 stages in the design process to produce a final design proposal.
Stage 1 Discusses orientation to the project, client-type and the users. Orientation to the locality enables an identification and definition of the key factors influencing the project.
Stage 2 Involves an analysis of the client, determination of the optimum scale of the project and an initial feasibility study. The site is selected and analysed and the brief developed.
Stage 3 Looks at creating a personal design philosophy from conceptual design thinking to schematic design.
Stage 4 Further development of schematic design to incorporate and manage the integration of structures, construction, services and the environment in respect of relevant government regulations and codes.
Stage 5 Further refinement of design to a detailed level with consideration of technical feasibility. Analysis of the economic and political viability of the project.
